We envision California classrooms where every student sees their own history reflected with dignity, and where the histories of all communities are taught with rigor, honesty, and care.

Why It Matters

Ethnic Studies builds cross-cultural understanding and civic engagement. Grounded in the four foundational disciplines — African American, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x, and Native American studies — it invites Interethnic Bridge Building across every community in our state.

Where We Are Going

As AB 101 takes effect, we are working toward a future in which high-quality, vetted instructional materials are a click away for every K-12 educator implementing the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum.
